Who thrives here
Our trainees come from computer science, neuroscience, bioinformatics, physics, engineering and medicine. Alumni have gone on to faculty positions, industry research roles and residency programs. See the alumni list.
PhD students
A strong background in computer science and mathematics, and an interest in biomedical research.
MD and MD-PhD students
A willingness to use your medical training while learning the details of machine learning and computer vision.
Master's and undergraduates
A commitment to work with us for at least two years, if not more.

Current and admitted students
If you are a current student, or already admitted to an academic or medical degree program at Boston University or a nearby academic center, we would be happy to discuss rotation openings.
Please contact one of our postdoctoral scholars or graduate students listed on the Team page to set up an appointment at one of our two locations.
Prospective applicants
We receive many inquiries and have limited capacity to work with students who are not yet admitted to a graduate or professional program. We can’t offer research opportunities, mentorship or individual guidance while you are applying, and contacting the lab will not affect admissions decisions, because the lab has no formal role in program admissions.
Because of the volume of inquiries, we only reply to applicants who are a strong match for our current research needs. If you don’t hear from us, we wish you the best in your academic and research pursuits.
